All together is a very good and powerful product. I can perform many tasks without needing my PC. Surfing, watching videos, taking notes and developing photos with Lightroom for iPad works very well. Combined with a (pricey) Magic Keyboard is almost like having a very lightweight laptop.

It misses a few “pro” features that justify the more expensive model. For example, the 120Hz variable refresh rate, and the Face ID unlock. However, are minimal aspects that is possible to ignore.

For heavier duty operations I use the VMWare Horizon client to connect it to a Windows instance if needed, but is a very niche application.

All and all, is a very capable and powerful powerhouse, I highly recommend it as an alternative to a laptop. However, keep in mind that is still quite limited by iPad OS.

Uusi toimii hyvin ja hidastelematta. Myös ulkoinen näyttö, näppäimistö ja hiiri toimivat mukavasti usb-c-liitännän kautta, minkä luulin olevan mahdollista vain pro-mallissa.
Näyttö on samanlainen kuin vanhassa iPadissani, mutta suurempi (9,7 tuumaa vs. 13). Lehtien ja verkkosivujen lukeminen sekä videoiden katsominen on mukavampaa.
E-sim vaatinee matkapuhelinoperaattorin vaihtamista, kun vanha nano-sim jäi pois käytöstä. Kaikilla operaattoreilla ei ole nopeaa rinnakkaisliittymää tarjolla.
Hyvä että voi ladata samalla laturilla kuin kännykän, mutta 15 W laturi on hidas. Tehokkaalla laturilla akku täyttyy nopeasti. Suuri näyttö tuntuu kuluttavan virtaa aika paljon, joten akkua on ladattava melko usein. Toivottavasti akku kestää yhtä pitkään kuin vanhassa iPadissa.

I was going to buy the iPad Pro but in all conscience couldn't justify the extra expense. This is a swap for my old iPad Pro, the original version. I wanted extra size and extra memory, this fits the bill nicely. Super light and with an ESR case to absorb shocks if dropped it's happy being held for any length of time. The screen is nice and bright and having the extra size means I can enlarge my fonts without cramping the space. Plenty of room to view photos and edit, which is quite important for me. Glad I may the purchase. The additional 2 years of cover you get with JLP is also a worthwhile consideration. I will also advise I took advantage of the Cashback scheme, all very simple to use and payment was quick and efficient.

I pre-ordered on day 1 or 2 with a pickup at a nearby store. Things went mostly smoothly. When I received the shipping notice I called the general Staples number and was told I could pick up my iPad. But when I got to the store, they said I had to wait for an email direct from the store that the pickup was ready, even though they had my iPad and showed it to me. So I had to make another trip the next day. A bit annoying but not a big deal in the long run. The iPad Air is great. Setup was easy with mirroring of my former iPad Pro. The M2 chip is fast and the video clarity is very good; same for the sound. Improvements over my 5 year old iPad Pro. 2 small things : While I got the blue iPad in the blue box, there is not much blue on the back or edges; looks more like silver with maybe a hint of blue. I did get a blue case with stand. Also, while everything synced with my old iPad including the settings, etc…. the only problem I noticed is that I cannot share web pages using the email icon. Strange because I can do this on my old iPad and my desktop. Not a problem though because the web page address can be forwarded by email or message using the upload icon at the top of the page. So everything OK after a week or so.
