Description
The long stems branch out at the top.
It grows on a variety of soils, neutral, acid and calcareous, waste places, roadsides, hedgerows.
Flowers
Terminal clusters of small, pale-yellow flowers.
Leaves
Elliptic oval leaf, Pinnatisect leaf is deeply lobed, almost to the central midrib. Basal rosette: oval, undulated and serrated, beneath the leaves a prickly midrib.
Upper leaves: pointing upwards, prickly lobes almost to central midrib.
Fruits Seeds
Achene: a cluster of 1-seeded fruit with long slender hairs.
Edible
Leaves: gathered in spring for salads.
