A glass walkway built for Shanghai Jin Mao Tower

News

Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai (East China), one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world with a height of 420 meters, inaugurated a glass walkway so that visitors can walk around and admire the exterior of the top floor of the building according to local media quoted by EFE.

According to the Beijing Times newspaper, tourists will be able to walk around the building, at more than 340 meters altitude on a transparent walkway that has no railings. With a width of only 1.20 meters, the bridge is not recommended for those with hear problems or those afraid of heights.

Nevertheless, the tourists interested in visiting the Jin Mao tower, which in Chinese means Golden Prosperity, will wear safety harnesses and helmets to go out on the platform and will be accompanied on this tour by an employee of the building. Pictures emerged on Chinese media show a number of lucky tourists, strapped in safety harnesses, happily stretching their arms and legs near the edge as if they were walking in the air.

Jin Mao Tower's management team told local reporters on Wednesday that this new attraction offers visitors the opportunity to take in sweeping views of the city.

Due to this new attraction authorities expect an increase in the number of visitors to the tower which, at the time of its construction, was the tallest building in the Chinese metropolis before the inauguration in its neighborhood of two other skyscrapers, Shanghai World Financial Center (494 meters) and Shanghai Tower (632 meters).Visitors will have to pay 388 yuan ($58) to talk a stroll above the streets of Shanghai.
