** I am aware that ñ does not exist in Spanish. However, I had requests to create a craft for "ñ" as part of the A-Z Bilingual Letter Craft Bundle. A piñata was selected for this craft since it is a cognate :)
This is a cognates-based resource. The text/instructions will be bilingual throughout so it can be used at school or at home. It includes the following.
- Cognates-based uppercase letter craft
- Optional page with border to glue to craft onto
- Four independent letter practice pages. These pages can be used for early finishers, homework, etc.
Rationale: I teach in a 50/50 dual language kindergarten setting. Last year, I tried mixing and matching some awesome letter crafts in Spanish and English. However, I had a hard time planning ahead. As you all know, things don't always go as expected. Sometimes, I ran out of time on an English day and I would have to wait to complete the craft on an English day. About half way through the alphabet, it occurred to me to start making my own cognates-based letter crafts. I am a firm believer of the power of cognates. This not only alleviated the need to complete a craft on a certain day based on the language of the day, we were able to promote metalinguistic awareness through the use of cognates!
