THE headline acts of Wagga Comedy Fest are already very popular, I predict Wil Anderson will sell out and Fiona O’Loughlin and the Doug Anthony Allstars will not be far behind.

All three of these shows are at the Wagga Civic Theatre.
However, there’s a lot more to the comedy festival than the headliners and I’d like to encourage you to have another look at these smaller shows.
They are in smaller spaces so you will have a more intimate experience, and the ticket prices for these shows are smaller too. But the laughs will be just as large.
The Comedy Fest kicks off on Thursday night Comedy vs Comedy: Wagga vs Canberra, it’s a battle between two city representative teams, Double Trouble from Wagga and Capital Punishment from Canberra.
Local comedy legends Dane Simpson and Jamie Way have cooked up a gutsy evening of brutal throw downs and comedic sideswiping.
The two teams will go head to head in a battle of winners to take all for the much acclaimed “Ghost of the Chiko Roll Cup”.
Local support required, tickets are all $20 each.
Bogan Bingo is half game show, half party.
Imagine nanna bingo but with cheekier calls and rockin' balls.
The host calls the numbers and our DJ spins out some amazing 70s, 80s and 90s rock songs to match those numbers.
Throw in an air guitar comp and a search for the biggest bogan in the room and you're in for a great night!
Every show is a two man show delivering a hilarious game of bingo, where the numbers are cues for jokes, songs and interaction focusing on Australia's characters and great musical past.
There’s mullets galore and some fair dinkum shenanigans.
There are two sessions of Bogan Bingo, on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17 at 5pm – tickets are only $15 each.
After some early laughs at Bogan Bingo you can stack up an evening filled with funniness, perhaps find a second show to round out your night.
You can also grab a tasty morsel for dinner at the Winter Markets, which will be on the Civic Theatre lawn. Grab a burger from The Borough, curry from Lamotte's Catering, pizza by Wagga's Woodfired Wagon or some sweets from Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory on your way to the show.
The Circus Firemen will perform a free show in front of the Civic Theatre from 6.30pm.
Watch brothers Angus & Matilda in a comedy show filled with juggling, acrobatic and precarious balance. Always up for a laugh this Melbourne-based duo have been performing together for over a decade, travelling the world and performing at events and festivals with their highly skill antics.
No ticket required.
We think comedy is even better shared with friends and if a show does not have the one low price it will have a group rate for more than four people.
All the information on the Wagga Comedy Fest can be found on the Civic Theatre’s website, www.civictheatre.com.au.
THE promotional video for Diary of a Wombat is delightful, it only runs for a couple of minutes but I was completely charmed when I watched it recently.
Monkey Baa have used the magic of puppetry and live music to bring this delightful story to the stage.
Meet Mothball, the naughtiest wombat in Australia.
Bored with her daily routine, Mothball goes in search of shelter and food, creating chaos in the lives of the humans around her.
Millions of young people around the world have adored the multi award-winning picture book, Diary of a Wombat.
Now finally this iconic work by Australian Children’s Laureate 2014/15 Jackie French and Bruce Whatley comes to the stage.
I suggest bringing the whole family to see the performance on Tuesday, June 20 at 6pm.
Tickets are $19 each, with the price reducing to $16 for groups of four or more.
Booking is available online at www.civictheatre.com.au or directly from the Civic Theatre.
