Bellille headlines for T&T at Caribbean Schools Boxing Championships

Makieve Bellille was named the Best Male School Boxer at the 2023 Caribbean School Boys/Girls Junior and Youth Championships in Georgetown, Guyana on the weekend.

The 13-year-old won gold in the 57kg School Boys category 13-14 years on his way to winning the accolade.

Bellille, Jamal Muhammed, Reyha John, and Anferney Baptiste won gold at the event which took place from 18-20 August.

Muhammed took gold in the 40km 11-12 School Boys, while John was victorious in the 48KG Junior -Female, and Baptiste triumphed in the 60km Youth category.

Trinidad and Tobago also won six silver medals in the event with Judiah Blake, Paul Matthew Newallo, Neraj Mahadeosingh, Baptiste, Mickel Medica, and Joshua Lewis finishing in the runners-up position.

"Our fearless team showcased their unwavering dedication and indomitable spirit on the regional stage of boxing," a media release from the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago stated.

"Let's celebrate these young fighters for their exceptional achievements and their embodiment of sportsmanship," the release added.
