3 Where is Punta P é rula located?  The village is located in the county of La Huerta, in the State Jalisco, Mexico.  It has a medium hight above the sea level of 10m.

5  This wondefull town in in the state of Jalisco in the county of La Huerta  118 km from the main town of the county.  It´s located on km. 73 of the county provincial highway Melaque to Puerto Vallarta.

6 Pérula Means in the Indian language Náhuatl “There were waters come together” It is believed, that the town was founded between 1967 and 1968 being the first inhabitants and founders: Mr. Santos Acosta and Mr. Celerino Cervantes, which were farmers and land owners, and which proudly still live in our community.

7  They were alone, with their families for about 2 years, then Mr. Ramón Delgadillo, Mr. Ramón Razo, and Mr. Antonio Neri settled down too. Later on Mr. Pablo Vega Ibarra, opened the first store in town, made from Palm tree leaves also called “Palapas”, this store was called “The uncombed”. This store was attended by Mr. Ramón Ibarra.

8  Pérula has 1330 inhabitants, from these aprox. 7532 are men and 778 are women.  Age of the inhabitants:  The ages are divided as follows: 706 are underage, 824 are grownups from which 61 are over 60 years old. This according to the last information.

9 Also there are a lot of foreigners, because our town is a tourist place. Here you will find people from several countries........

10 Because it is a tourist place, there are difrent languages, being the main language Spanish because of the town inhabitants, but because of the tourism there are others like: English, German, French, Japanese, etc...

11 Tere is also a group of people that come here during croft time: These people are incorrectly known as “Chiricaguas”. They speak other languages or dialects like Mixteco, Náhuatl or Tlapaneco.

12 Our town is a tourist place were you can find people from other countries. For the inhabitants of this town, their main income comes from fishing, sales, between others (farming, livestock, sales, construction)

13 Hauptprodukte der Landwirtschaft  Mangos, Papayas, Watermelone, difrent kind of chillies, Coconut, Lemons, sorghum, sesame, corn, green tomatoes, tomatoes, melons, etc.

14  Regarding the vegetations of this region, we have many fine kind of tropical woods like for example: Mahogany, red and white cedar, Barcinowood, Campiciráwood, black and porcelain coulor Guavawood, brazilwood, Parotawood, Abillowood, etc., as well as different medicine plants.

15  It´s composed by several kinds of terrestrial animals as well as aquatic animals.  It is to be mentioned that here we protect the see turtle, the crocodile and the caiman. This last one you can find on the salt pond areas.

16 Education  One could say that education is very good here, it starts at the kindergarten and goes one until high school. 99% of the inhabitants now how to read and write.  In the elementary school they have one teacher per grade, and they are two 5th. grades, on of them in class “B”. The school also has a principal and a janitor, it is a very complete school with better services for the students and the parents.

17 The classrooms are equipped according to the place and the students. Regarding the COBAEJ (the high school), this is located temporarily at the elementary school “Juan Aldama”, while there own installations are being finished.

18 Between the most important buildings in town first we have does that are dedicated to the education. There we have buildings that go from kindergarten through elementary school, TV middle school and high school.

19 Other buildings that can be found in Pérula Are Hotels, Restaurants, little stores (groceries, “Tortilla” stores, Hardware store, Fish sale, ice cream parlours, butcher, etc.)

20 Community Characteristics Regarding this characteristics, most of the buildings are made of solid material, only a few are still shacks made of wood or other non solid materials. The outfits are normally according to the place, people dress with shorts, blouses and comfortable t-shirts according to the season.

21 Urbanization Most houses have a medium economic level, also nutrition and live standard are medium. The vocabulary level of most people is low. Now a days there are many addictions, and dissoluteness.

22 Important celebrations Here in our town and in the land that belongs to our town, archaeological relics of the Aztecs, that travelled through here, have been found. Things like: Arrow tips, metal objects, clay vases, etc....

23 Important Events Social, as well as cultural, religious and sport events, are held, depending on the occasion. Part of these events are the different parades (September 16th., November 20th., Christmas, and the spring parade) Other festivities are: the altar for the day of the dead, religious festivities in honor to “Cristo Rey”, Mexican nights, family parties (Birthdays, Christmas dinners, the tree holy kings celebration). Mothers day and Teachers day, which are celebrated by teachers and students.
