Zanthoxylum armatum NJM 11.080

Found growing at the woodland edge in Central Guizhou, SW China this species of 'Sichuan pepper' formed shrubs to 2m tall with rather striking, comparatively large, heavily armed, shiny pinnate leaves with elegant, drawn-out leaflets. Red fruit clusters open to reveal shiny black seeds. Potentially a large spreading shrub for sun or semi-shade.
